The Oranges Listening Style
Ever wondered, why you are so misunderstood by some people and yet others seem to hear you loud and clear?
Ever get the feeling that people are listening to what you are saying, but they aren’t really hearing you?
In the same way that we interpret visual information through our own unique lens, the same can be said for the way we listen, and the Orange Personality types have their own unique way of listening.
To be listened to is, generally speaking, a nearly unique experience for most people. It is enormously stimulating. It is small wonder that people who have been demanding all their lives to be heard so often fall speechless when confronted with one who gravely agrees to lend an ear. Man clamors for the freedom to express himself and for knowing that he counts. But once offered these conditions, he becomes frightened.“

Orange – Be relevant
If you relate to the Orange True Colors Personality type, the speaker will have your complete attention if the subject is entertaining, impactful, relevant and useful.
If the speaker fails to engage you in this way, you will lose interest. Your mind will wander and you will start making connections to what is being said so that you can enter into the dialogue with your version of what happened to you. You have an active mind, and can flip flop from subject to subject in a flash.
Orange – listening to understand your agenda
You also need to understand the speaker’s agenda, i.e., as they are talking you are subconsciously assessing what they want, need or expect from you. You need this information so that you can be ready to take action, even if the action is a joke, throwing out a challenge or performing some feat. You are an ‘in the moment’ type of person which allows you to process the information being heard so that you can do something with the information immediately.
