Career ideas for Blue Personalities
Do you love the work you do? Does your work embody who you are?
These aren’t particularly difficult questions, but in my experience as a coach and True Colors Facilitator, there are a lot of unhappy people working in jobs that don’t align with the things that matter to them most. That is to say, their work does not embody who they really are.
In fact, some statistics go so far as to suggest that 80% of people in the workplace don’t like the work they are doing. Now, given that the average person spends more time at work than they do with their families, that statistic is staggering, wouldn’t you agree?
Let’s face it, life’s way too short to spend it doing work that leaves you feeling unfulfilled. So if you have a job that is draining the life out of you, what’s stopping you from doing something about it?
I’ve learned that there are typically two reasons people don’t take action, either they tell themselves they can’t or someone else has told them they can’t. Whichever is true for you, its worth re-examining.
There’s a great quote by Nigel Marsh that sums this all up.
“There are thousands and thousands of people out there living lives of quiet, screaming desperation who work long hard hours, at jobs they hate to enable them to buy things they don’t need to impress people they don’t like.”
If Nigel’s quote resonates with you, and you are open to rethinking your situation, here’s a quick recap of the strengths and strongest abilities that embody the True Colors Blue personality type.
